| The Billiards and Snooker Association of the ACT (Inc) was formed in 1947 by a group of billiards enthusiasts from two local Departments: the then Transport Section and the ACT Fire Brigade. Originally named the ACT Amateur Billiards Association, regular competitions were held between the two authorities, gradually enlarging to cater for the emerging club scene in Canberra. Each year since 1947, there have been billiards and snooker competitions running in the ACT under the auspices of the BSAACT. Currently they are held twice each year, starting in February and July. Prior to 1985, the BSAACT was affiliated with the Billiards & Snooker Association NSW, which gave the BSAACT access to national representation. In 1985 the BSAACT affiliated with the Australian Billiards and Snooker Council (ABSC), who are the governing body for the sport in Australia. They in turn are affiliated with the world-wide governing body, the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF). We welcome prospective members from all groups; male, female, young and old, and encourage participation by coaching and promotion of our sport at each opportunity. |
